That makes sense. Slow infrastructure can create longer jobs and higher compute costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But one fast request does not tell you much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When testing proxy performance, track at least: median latency, p90 or p95 latency, timeout rate, connection error rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Imagine these two providers:<\/strong> provider A has a median latency of 720 ms, a p95 latency of 5.5 seconds, and a timeout rate of 4.1%. Provider B is slightly slower at the median, with 860 ms, but performs much better at the high end, with a p95 latency of 1.8 seconds and a timeout rate of only 0.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long-tail latency creates timeouts. Timeouts create retries. Retries increase bandwidth. They can also make jobs finish later than expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And also test from the infrastructure you actually use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your production jobs run in AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, or your own data center, benchmark from there. If a typical session lasts seven minutes, run seven-minute sessions. If some jobs last 30 minutes, test those too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not optimize around the provider&#8217;s advertised maximum session time. But your application does not use an advertising number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It uses the IPs that are available to your account, in the locations you need, at the moment your jobs run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During your proxy trial, record the IPs you actually receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at: unique IP count, how frequently the same IP returns, ASN diversity, subnet concentration, country and city distribution, performance differences between networks, how the available pool changes throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may discover that a provider with an enormous global pool gives you relatively limited diversity in the specific country you care about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is not necessarily a problem. No provider has identical supply in every geography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The important thing is to understand your <strong>effective pool<\/strong>, not just the headline pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, resist the temptation to treat maximum rotation as automatically better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Independent requests may benefit from frequent rotation.
